The thyristor-switched tuned filter cabinet provides rapid power factor correction for loads with significant fluctuations, such as elevators, cranes, and rolling mills. Replacing contactors with thyristors significantly increases switching speed and reduces maintenance and replacement workloads caused by the wear and tear typical of contactors.
The control system engages and disengages each section of the tuned filter bank based on reactive power requirements:
"Engage first, disengage last" principle: The first tuned filter bank to be engaged is the last to be disengaged.
"Engage first, disengage first" principle: The first tuned filter bank to be engaged is the first to be disengaged.
"Cyclic engagement and disengagement" principle: This mode is used in systems with identical capacities.
Applications
Suitable for rapidly changing loads such as the steel industry, welding machine loads,and industries that use a large number of elevators and cranes.
The thyristor switching and tuning filter cabinet with fast switching capability can be used to support the voltage of the distribution system and improve the power factor of the load.
Thyristor switches have no mechanical wear, operate without noise, and have the characteristic of virtually no transient processes.
The control signal can be directly transmitted from the load to the tuning filter cabinet, which means that power factor improve mean that as minimal delay.
The control system ensures that the shortest time for the tuning filter cabinets of all segments to be turned on or off is only 20ms.
Each tuning filter cabinet s composed of a capacitor and a reactor connected in series, forming a series resonant circuit with a resonant frequency lower than the lowest harmonic frequency present in the system (such as 150Hz, 250Hz).
The selection of the tuning filter cabinet depends on the required control method and is determined by the total amount of reactive power to be compensated and the type of load. The load can be symmetrical or asymmetrical, and can also be connected to the line voltage or phase voltage.
Conditions Of Use
High power equipment with fast load changes,such as welding machines, can cause voltage drops in the distribution network, and the magnitude of the voltage drop and thus improve its productivity.of which depends on the power of the load and the short-circuit capacity of the distribution network. The voltage drop on the secondary side of the transformer is reflected on the primary side, causing the deterioration of the distribution network voltage to affect the entire transformer circuit.
The impact of voltage drop in the distribution network depends on the ampltude of the voltage drop and the frequency of its occurrence. The tuned filter bank with thyristor switching can effectively suppress these effects and ensure that the distribution network voltage meets the standards.
Due to the support and stability of the power grid voltage, the tuned filter bank with thyristor switching can reduce the energy consumption of production equipment and thus improve its productivity.
In order to achieve the best possible results in power factor compensation of the high-speed welding machine the control signal is directly sent from the welding machine to the tuning filter bank. Therefore, the power factor compensation of the tuning filters pre selected based on the demand for reactive power.
